Be aware that the PFS has a minimum LOP of 14".

If he fits that LOP then the PFS is a great idea for a junior shooter - my son shot one for close to 2 years before he outgrew the LOP adjustments.

You don't need a gunfitter to fit the PFS to your son (unless you know zero about how to fit a stock) but it s useful as a starting point - you should be able to make your own adjustments as he grows or needs a stock adjustment.

The only adjustment you CANNOT make on a PFS is grip length - you can shorten it by adding bondo or magic putty but lengthening the grip is a challenge usually only solved by finding the earlier model grips which had a larger radius.

Do not underestimate hand position when it comes to gun fit - it is a critical element.

One other consideration for a youth shooter is weight.

As a PFS is shortened weight does not change.

The unit is fairly heavy even without the counter-weights inserted (that come with the stock). You might want to see how your son can handle the stock weight before you commit.

If you do go with the PFS I highly recommend the Ultimate Fit Comb - it is a major improvement over the traditional cheekpiece.

    Good luck.

yes i think he can handle the weight no problem .
i bought a second hand PFS that i should have tommorrow
but i am concerned about the LOP his bt-99 is 13 3/4
and i thought the PFS would go to 13 but now you say 14 is min.
so i guess i will know tommorrow

trapdaddy if it is to long you can always have a thinner recoil pad installed to get the length shorter by at least 1/2".

Here is a link to the PFS web site. I expect Vern Brown will be at the Grand. It might be worth trying to contact him to arrange a meeting. His cell number is listed on the web site at the bottom of the "Contact" page. Bill Malcolm
