I do not really care for a heavy weight shotgun. That's why I like gas automatics. I can pare weight yet don't have the increased recoil that a non-auto would have.

I have weighed several that I have shot well. They group well in the 8 pound, 12 ounce area. I weigh about 215 pounds. That may have something to do with it. Ron

Somewhere around 9 to 9.5 lbs seems to work for most. That, of course, is for a break action. Semi-autos generally go lighter, perhaps a good pound of so. I like a heavy Trap so mine is around the 9.5 mark for my 687 Special, and 8.5 for the 391 I sometimes shoot.

Mine is right around 11 pounds. I find anything lighter to feel too light.
