It occured to me that I am very consistant on guns for sale and what are imediate "turn-offs". I see them on a gun and I'm no longer interested no matter what the price.

    1) Porting. I know this has been hashed to death so I don't want this thread to be all about that. The only reason why I listed it was for consistancy.

    2) Morgan pad adjuster. I see this on a gun and flags just fly up. They are cheap, poorly made, and have no use other than to see if a pad adjuster will help gun fit. It screams cheap and makes me wonder what other corners were cut with reguards to maintience/modifications. Besides the fact that they make a nice gun look bad.

I equate this to looking at a used vehicle and seeing cheapo, mis-matched tires on it. I usually turn away and look for something else at that time.

I was at the gym today and one of the guys who was working out said "here comes the sun, better get out your guns." I got all excited until I realized he was talking about his biceps. What a turn-off.

Here are the things that I think make for a poor "for sale" add:

    1) Crummy photos

    2) The word "rare" in an add

    3) Rating a used gun at 98-99%

    4) A poorly ground recoil pad

    5) Using a phrase such as "smokes targets from 16-27 yards"

    6) Using the phrase "soft shooter"

    7) Using the phrase "NORMAL handling marks"

    8) No photo of the locking lever position

How about "SHOT ONLY TWICE", or "ONLY 150 ROUNDS THROUGH THE GUN". Come on...

Left handed shooters that insist on shooting to my right. It drives me nuts. They should have their own squads. Also the phrase "Mint Condition" or "100% condition".

    Hello Guys,

I'll give you something to think about what's wrong with my post?

FS Beretta 391 Optima Parallel Target RL - Reduced

I've answered more questions since I posted it than I did getting my last job...I hate to drop it any more since Jaquas has one on their site with barrel rings for $700. I think a good barrel should be work an extra $75, but who knows?

I'm with ALF-99 on this one. I hate any type of recoil device on the butt stock of any gun. To me, it screams cheap. People will buy a $12,000 gun and put a $175 recoil device on it. It tells me the gun didn't fit and the owner was to cheap to get the gun fit. And the funny thing is, the owners seem to think it makes the gun worth more money.

I personally shy away from guns with choke tubes, porting of any kind, Morgan pads, chokes that have been altered unless I can test them on a board to make sure someone didn't take a reamer or brake hone to them in his garage and make a skeet gun out of it ... I try to buy guns that are unaltered in anyway obviously, with the exception of an adjustable comb which I can live with or have one done myself ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

Vari-Choke or Cutts. It "cutts" the guns value by 50% minimum, but more like 70% in many cases.

For all those poor folks who were going to list guns for sale and have now learned of all these turn offs, please PM me with items. I will still buy but of course understand that at substantially reduced prices due to apparent negative aspects you have now learned about your items.

laura, my guns will blockout the sun :)
