gun transfer?

    I live in Illinois and i am looking at a gun on gunbroker.the seller also lives in Illinois.my ? is, can we exchange foi card# and a copy of my drivers lic. and then he ship the gun to me or must i go w/a ffl holder.

    No. If you ship it, it must go to a FFL. If you meet face to face, you can simply exchange FOID info without the FFL as long as you both are IL residents and have valid FOID cards.

    Don a foid card is a card illinois res. must have to own a gun.Matt, that stainless is looking better every day.

    What type of gun, makes a difference also.

    More information in the link above. Looks like there is a waiting period, before it can be delivered.

    Probably should call the Illinois division, or office of the ATF. They will give you all the correct information.

    I have a FOID and FFL...

    One day I went to Cabela's in Indiana to take a look at a set of estate sale shotguns. The first thing I did was offer my FOID. The guy at the desk said, "Oh, you're from the socialist state of Illinois". I'll never forget that and I never take out any ID - FOID included - unless it is requested by someone who has the authority to see it. Same thing goes in a traffic stop. Ask me and I'll comply, but I never volunteer anything more.
