I was as my local Gander Mountain this afternoon about 5:00-6:00 and couldn't get near the gun counter. It was packed with customers waiting to pick up or buy their new guns. They have a deli ticket system where you have to wait to be called when your number comes up, and with just two associates on duty, it looked like it would be at least 40 minutes to an hour to get waited on. Most customers were milling about in front of the "black" gun section. Is there a run on these guns? I have one, but if they are going to ban them (again), it will have the opposite effect if today's activity is an indication to the response of Obama's speech earlier this afternoon. Maybe we all need to purchase a couple or three to send the message that responsible gun owner's have the right to buy what we like, shoot, or collect. Instead of a boycott, we could start a buycott.
I called in an instant check to our Sate Police today (NJ) and it took 4 hours for a fax reply and got the highest daily number that I ever got and it was only 5:00. they still had 3 1/2 hours to go till closing.
A local gun store -- the opposite of a big box warehouse store -- a store with a wall of 1886 Winchesters for sale...
A local store that normally closes at 6 PM...
Had customers continuously until 10 PM last night.
Was its biggest sales day in its 30+ year history of business.
Didn't matter what it was and what its price was -- even first generation Colt SAA 44s and left-handed double-barrel elephant guns -- it sold yesterday.
The proprietor has no inventory much left to bother opening today.
It is that way all over. Both Cabelas and Sportsmens Wearhouse have a long line to wait in. Ammo is flying off the shelves also. Dont sell your assualt rifles yet, they will triple in value in a month or so
I just got back from my local Wally World. Went through the sports section. There wasn't any ammo at all left except one 4 pack of Federal shells in 20 gauge.
I stopped at four Wally's yesterday, no .380, 9mm, .40, .45, .223, .308, or 6.8.
Tried to go to Gander, but couldn't find a parking spot. The family owned gun shops are basically out of everything except long rifles, shotguns, muzzle loaders, and revolvers.
Not a very smart time to buy ar15's right now. They are way over priced and going higher. Like the last few runs on guns this too will pass and the prices will fall dramatically. Gun shop owners will probably vote Democrap from here on though. It is the best thing for their business without question. Same thing happened in 2008 and 2009 when the socialist was elected.
Doesn't this prove that Obama DOES have a working economic stimulus package?
Just think of the boost to merchants. Unfortunately this plan is also one of the most short-sighted and long term counter productive ever conceived by a politician.
Capitalism works. This is a prime example of supply and demand at work.

Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte, NC broke their all-time single day sales record with over $1 million in sales. Even though Larry probably doesn't have to sell as many guns as most dealers to hit the $1 mil mark, it is a pretty good indicator that sales are indeed up.
