I just purchased a new Brownig Silver, and installed a golden rod type dehumidifier. My question is, how hot do they get? Mine is hot enough that I don't want to touch it.

A golden rod doesn't get very hot. Just enough to heat the air and cause it to rise and flow out the top of the door. That brings in new air through the bottom of the door keeps the air circulated. It isn't actually a dehumidifier.

Heating the air lowers the RELATIVE humidity but does not lower the amount of moisture in the air. Get a absorbant type of dehumidifier.
