The debate about gun control has been going on for years, and many laws have been passed trying to prohibit the use of firearms for the protection of our lives. The gun controller’s like to blame gun crimes on the gun, the bullets, the manufacturer, or whatever else they can concoct to satisfy their righteousness. It never ceases to amaze me how the biggest mouth’s have the least amount of brain power, yet they snare some of the biggest and wealthiest followers. Make no mistake about it; whether it’s a politician, a movie star, or an organization, gun control is all about money.

Let’s take a look at this debate with an open mind. There are two sides to this debate, aggression, vs. defense. On the one side, the gun controller’s are focusing on the use of guns through aggression. Their theory is that if there were no guns, it would diminish aggression, especially murder, and in particular mass murder. It seems that they are implying that guns are a tempting narcotic to an aggressor, which gives them super powers, and that’s what makes them do what they do. The conclusion then is that the gun is an evil devise; perhaps even satanic in that it will tempt someone to do evil acts, therefore it should be banned.

I could understand their concern that a gun is a destructive device, but so are a bomb, a knife, a baseball bat, and a car when used by an aggressor to kill. My question to them is, aren’t these devises just as evil in the hands of an aggressor. Furthermore how do we protect ourselves from these devises, which brings me to the other side of the debate.

On the other side of the debate we have law abiding citizens who want to protect themselves from aggressors, which may require the use of a deadly devise such as a gun. Man has figured out a long time ago that no one was created equal, whether it is physically, mentally or otherwise. You will always have someone who thinks he can take advantage of another person for whatever reason, and some are willing to go to extremes to prove it. You don’t have to be a genius to see that it is not the gun that is evil; it is the demented mind of the aggressor that we need to protect ourselves from.

Another point gun controllers try to make is, what are we suppose to do, give everyone a gun to protect themselves. What they don’t realize is that they created this dilemma in the first place. By putting prohibitions on guns and gun owners for all these years, they gave the aggressors the green light to plunder, rob, kill, and take advantage of peace loving law abiding citizens. They created a monster and continue to want to feed it with more laws prohibiting those same citizens from the right to protect them. Wasn’t it better when no one knew how big of a stick you carried? If they would have left things alone, don’t ask don’t tell made more sense. God has given us the individual right to protect ourselves. Our forefathers believed this to be a right by creating the second amendment stating that an individual has the right to keep and bear arms in order to protect their homes and family. Virginia Tech was a gun free zone. Did that deter the aggressor? It did the opposite. He had free reign to do what he wanted and he knew he could get away with it.
The only way out of this mess is to stop passing more laws prohibiting gun ownership, and repeal the laws that are now on the books. When we get back to square one where we can protect ourselves by any means, aggressors will become cowards before they become killers. As for the gun controllers, they have done enough damage to this country. It’s time for us to speak up and let them know that they are wrong and we are right.

    Nicollo Machiavelli
    16th century Italian political theorist

"Rome remained free for four hundred years and Sparta eight hundred, although their citizens were armed all that time; but many other states that have been disarmed have lost their liberties in less than forty years."

-Nicollo Machiavelli (1469-1527), 16th century Italian political theorist

"A new prince has never been known to disarm his subjects, on the contrary, when he has found them disarmed he has always armed them, for by arming them these arms become your own, those that you suspected become faithful and those that were faithful remain so, and from being merely subjects become your partisans... But when you disarm them, you commence to offend them and show that you distrust them either through cowardice or lack of confidence, and both of these opinions generate hatred against you."

    -Niccolo Macchiavelli (1469-1527), "The Prince"

"The Swiss are well armed and enjoy great freedom."

    -Niccolo Machiavelli, "The Prince", 1532
