A person my wife met said he had two of his guns shipped on a plane as baggage. When he received the guns, he discovered they had been fired. He refused to take them into his custody.

Has anyone ever heard of anything similar to this happening?

What would you have done ?

By the way, he finally accepted them after 6 months, no investigations were done.

He shipped his gun. Did he have a lock on the case? Was the lock broken? Did he clean his gun before shipping? There isn't enough info to decide anything. I have to say BS first.

I had an idiot think snap caps were ammo.

Maybe somone figured out how to make them go off.

Can't have ammo in the same package as firearms, you know.

Where did the ammo come from? I would think any sound even remotely like gun fire would attract all sorts of attention at the airport.

Moore5833 is 100% correct. They ask to look, then make you lock it. I think you have a friend who is not totally rational gene

I did take a NIB Remington Spartan o/u to an auction house to have sold it was there 2 weeks 1st week not reaching reserve by 10bucks(which would have been ok as I had to pay $25 just to have it put up) and it came back to me both barrels fired. I will NEVER take another gun there.

there's a trapdoor in the cockpit. on long flights, the pilots can simply put the plane on autopilot and go rummage around down there in the baggage hold. they do it of all the time. no big deal. also, the plane was probably flying faster than the speed of sound when the pilot fired the gun, that would explain why nobody heard the shot. good luck with it

I went to work yesterday at 7 am as usual. When I came home, I found every one of my guns had been fired, cleaned and put back in the safe EXACTLY like I'd left them. It's crazy, I know!
