The Left is going for broke in the current anti-gun frenzy. They have added mandatory liability insurance for all gun owners. Below is their stated objectives of mandatory insurance.

    .

The first question we have to answer is why we want to require the insurance. There are three reasons I can think of:

    1) it will simply raise the cost of owning guns to the point where people aren’t willing to do it.

    2) It will pay for the harm caused by guns

    3) It will make insurers into de-facto regulators.

Roberts made it very difficult to try for a Commerce Clause law. It would be the same as (attempting to) force writers and journalists to carry liability insurance.

You would be shocked at the number of people who go without automotive insurance. This would be no different. It would be a good way to get guns off the street though (in the eyes of a politician). Just implement mandatory forfeiture on the spot for noncompliance.

It should give the AR15 owners and purchasers pause. Undoubtedly rates would vary dependent upon the model, just like vehicles.

In some states it is legal for teachers to carry guns. More are considering. Lets take it one step further. A bounty or reward for the first teacher to shoot a would be child killer. Yes I'm serious and would contribute to such a fund. It would be a deterrent and makes more sense than paying for gun insurance. Plus...it'll drive the liberal gun grabbers nuts. ed nichols

ed, are you going to pay the bounty if a teacher shot the wrong person? Maybe only pay half for the thought, eh?

There is already a $100 mil lawsuit (need permission from the state first) for Newtown, can you imagine the amount if a teacher shot the wrong person?

Maybe we should insure teachers in event of a wrongful death lawsuit. ed

Across the country the Left is proposing gun control laws at everything.

One state is proposing to ban hollowpoints because they are "dum-dum" bullets banned by the Geneva Convention.

Another state is proposing to ban non-expanding bullets because they penetrate police armor.

Yet another wants a 50% excise tax on any ammo.

Another proposes requiring all guns to be registered under the 1935 NFA which controls fully-automatic machine guns.

Another wants to ban private possession and require all personally owned guns to be kept at a police lockup that during regular business hours you may go see but not touch.

Someone wants to measure the carbon footprint of guns and ammunition and have the EPA pass appropriate regulations to ban all of it subject to United Nations concurrence.

    Fun for all.

I feel bad for those who live in DEEP BLUE states....then again, if you moved to a BEET RED state, you will deprive them of your state income, property and sale taxes......

The "gun debate" is an extension of the "culture war."
