At the range, I see many shooters run a snake through the barrel after shooting. Is there an advantage to do a prelim before a good clean at home?

I don't think so, assuming that the "good cleaning" will occur reasonably soon. But then again I would suspect that the "snake-through-the-bore" is the only cleaning a lot of those guns will see for quite some time.

In my feeble minded thinking i do it in hopes that the barrel still being warm will allow some of the junk to come out easier. I often use the Bore Snake between events as well. Please note, the Bore Snake should NEVER take the place of a good cleaning before the gun is put away. I've never proved any advantages of my methods though.---Matt
