I finally got my XT adjusted to the point that I am satisfied with my scores (50 straight at 16 yards and 48 from 21 yards), but the damn thing beats up my cheek. Every shotgun I've ever owned has beat my cheek up, but this one is the worst by far. Other than that, I love it?

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Maybe some kind of thin pad for the comb?

Increasing the negative down pitch might help. Loosen the screws holding the recoil pad, put 1 or 2 washers on the top screw between the wood and the pad.
This will increase the pitch and just might solve the problem. HMB

My XT is ported already. Can the recoil pad pitch really cause cheek slap?

Thanks guys, I'll try the washer trick. If it works, how would make the change permanent? Put in some kind of angled spacer?

If all your guns beat you up, why did you buy them? HMB

Yes Danny, they make angled spacers, they're called "pitch spacers".

I'm no expert, but I shoot a browning 425 and suffered from cheek slap when I first got the gun, to the point that it left bruises on my face. I don't have an adjustable comb, so I had an adjustable butt plate put on so my stock was up higher on my face, but the butt of the gun remained down in my shoulder pocket. Go to a website like Brownells and check for adjustable butt plates.

If your gun has an adjustable comb you could have it adjusted and have it at the right height and left right but angle it so when the gun goes off it would slide the remainder way from your cheek instead of straight back.

Slide the adjustable comb away from your face so you are not cheeking it as hard to see the correct sight picture. Grip it tighter with your hand, not your face. Just like dancing cheek to cheek...no more pressure than that or you'll keep getting whacked. Good luck!

Guys use a wedge it does not change length of pull and will keep your scores!!!3/4 in on top 1/4 on bottom. you can make it out of wood or plastic. Good luck it does work.best part no bruising!!!

Try a Griggs redirector pad they are kinda ugly but will help with the cheek beating,I had a diamond grade Winchester once that beat me up and the pad pretty much cured it,if it has an adjustable comb another option is a gooey comb, again ugly but will help a bunch.Jerry

If you have the pad a bit too high on your shoulder the recoil redirects the rear of the stock upward and bites your cheek. Get the pad down and your face a bit more forward. If that odes not work, write me for the next thing to try.

Send me yoru email and I'll send yo some gun mount pics.

Try keeping your head down........... Even the most subtle lift can beat the hell out of your face.
