Would 19.4 grains of Green Dot be acceptable in a 1-ounce load? I use Spolar wads and STS and Nitro shells. I have a pound of the stuff and have never reloaded it.

I have loaded 19.0 grains of green dot in an STS or Premier hull with REM TGT wads and Remington 209P Primers. Very pleased with the results. Shoot this shell for both shots in doubles and it does an excellent job. When it comes to powder, Green Dot is as good as any and better than most.

Don't know much about the Spolar Wad, but your powder weight is in the correct area for a good 1 Oz. load with Green Dot.

I like Green Dot (clay dot also)! I load Green Dot 19.5 grains, Fig.8 wad, STS or Nitro Hull, with a Winchester 209 primer, 11/8 oz. of hard shot, somewhere around 1150 fps.

I would run that load through a chronograph... it will be well above 1250 fps. I load 19.7 Green Dot with 1 1/8 load of 7.5's with a Spolar wad, Cheditte primer, in STS hull and it chronographs out at 1250+. Figure the Spolar wad to perform like the Windjammer. Check the Alliant Guide for powder drops of Green Dot with 1 oz. loads. Fred

Green Dot works best for 1.125 oz loads. Makes a super handicap load. It will work for 1oz but best at high velocity. Try Red Dot, E3, or the new Extralite for 1oz @1200 fps.
