Red Dot for 1 oz, Green Dot for 1-1/8 oz.

Slower powder, lower pressures with bigger payload. The perfect pair!

    See the Alliant Manual.

    I buy mine from Recobs.

I use nothing but Green Dot. Plenty of good loads and as Dr. Longshot stated it is excellent for Handicap loads.

    My personal favorite is:

Remington STS/Nitro or Gun Club hulls

    19 grains Green Dot

    W209 primer

    1 1/8oz #8's

    Fig8 or clone wads

It is approximately 8100 PSI and 1145 FPS. Bump it up to 22 grains and it becomes a real good Handicap load at 9400 PSI and 1250 FPS.

    1 1/8 =19-21 grn

Besides a superb 1-1/8 ounce load, it makes a great 1 ounce load. I can get velocities at 1250 fps., and keep pressures at 9200 psi. Just chronoed some 1 ounce reloads a couple of weeks ago, and the loads were more consistent than any factory loads.......Plus, it's made in the USA.

What Wayne said. Now the secret's out. I started out using it for 32 gm loads 20 years ago. After a couple of years I dropped to 1 ounce. About 60-70 8lb kegs later, and a few flirtations with others, it's still my bread & butter load...18-19 grains for 1225-1250 fps. Clean enough and, as Wayne says, extremely consistent.

18.7 in a gold medal hull with a federal primer,DRF3 wad and 1 1/8 of hard 8s is a soft shooting 16yrd load that smoke rolls targets. I used this load this past weekend and broke 199 FWIW. Steve Wolf

Red Dot and Green Dot, two of the best powders for years and the prices don't hurt too bad.

A friend gave to me some green dot in an original keg.It is old-and to be certain that the powder is indeed "green dot'-does green dot have any green in it so that it can be recognized? I know-it sounds dumb-but I just do not know what green dot looks like. Thanks--Dennis.

Yes, Green Dot has small Green flakes mixed in and Red Dot has small Red flakes.

I had some given to me that was 40 years old. The green flakes had turned a very very pale green. It functioned just fine. Remember the old saying : When in doubt, throw it out." It's very good for your garden, BTW.
