I've been loading 21 grains of Green Dot with AA hulls, Win 209 primer, WAA12 wads, 1 1/8oz. shot for my handicap loads. I recently got a bunch of Nitro 27 hulls and want to make up some 1200-1250 fps loads. Alliant's web site does not list any recipes for the components I have. Any suggestions on how much Green Dot to drop? Thanks, Wayne

I have been loading 18.7 grains of green dot in STS hulls for years and they chronoed at 1145 with the same componets you use. When I use AA hulls they were a few feet per second faster and seemed to have more recoil. I did load some with near 21 grains and found they had too much recoil for me.

I have shot 20.2 gr Green Dot, STS hull, AA wad, and AA primer all year on 27 yards. It's my favorite 27yard reload. Should be around 1225 fps. I think its pretty soft shooting.

Dove Commanders numbers are spot on I have tested two loads for nito hulls with winchester primers waa12 wads, a powder drop of green dot at 19.8 grains hit 1200 for me and a drop of 20.6 hit 1245. Try testing at 20 grains and if you think you need a little more speed step it up a half of a grain. Good Luck

I'll also add that if you compare pressures of a Rem primer and F-8 wad, vs a Win primer and F-8 wad in a STS hull, there is little difference. Thair around 8,900 psi. The same scenario happens if you switch to a AA wad. The 20.2 gr Green Dot load I mentioned earlier is probably around 9,000 - 9,400 psi.

Dove Commander has the right load. There is very little difference between the AA hull and the Remington Gold or STS hull. I prefer to keep with the same primer [AA 209] amd Blue Duster, Spolar gold, or windjammer wad. Now for a cleaner load use International powder with the same drop of around 20.0 grains. Fred

Thanks for the very prompt replies. I got my scales out and will be dropping 490 grains of 7 1/2 shot and 20.2 grains of Green Dot. Headed to the pattern board with a Super x1 and a BT-99, I'll come back with results. Thanks, Wayne
