We would like to extend my congratulations to the ATA & MTA for putting on a fine shoot. Although, the shoot numbers were down 18%, overall competiton was first class. The shoot ran timely with little of no hold ups. The transition from shooting to the shoot offs was nearly flawless. The trap kids kept the traps filled and the scoring correct.

Myself and three fellow Wisconsinites Mike Thomas, Steve Wolf and Tom Hoppe shot the Championship targets held on Sunday and Monday. Mike Thomas - 2008 Central Grand Singles Champion ran the 200 singles and won the shoot off with a perfect 25 straight. It was Mike's first two hundred singles and his first national title. Congrads Mike you did it! Tom Hoppe shot off for runner up in the A class singles with a 197 and the C class doubles championship. Although, Tom didn't win his shoot offs he showed his fine shooting abilties using his new Ceasar Guerini shotgun. We expect Tom to do very well at our state shoot in July!

We want to thank the locals in ( Jackson) who were extremely cordial to us and made our stay worth while. Kudos to the fine ladies who ran the food service at hte MTA. It was a good selection in food and priced accordingly! We have every expectation in returning next year. Thanks again for a job well done!

Rick Brohmer

P.S. It was nice to meet some of the fine Michigan shooters, Scott, Jacque, Bob, George and Big Don!

I shot next to Mike Thomas as he shot his 200 dust balls, on Sunday. Mike shoots league at Lake View, known for their wild targets because they still use old hand set machines. Mike said he was 249/250 this year, so shooting a 200 at the great lakes grand was no surprise. I really enjoyed the Great Lakes Grand and enjoyed the two shoot offs that I competed in. At four dollar gas, it only cost us 37.50 ea. in gas to drive from Milwaukee, that's only about ten dollars difference from last year. That's well worth the excitement of shooting in a major shoot, but seeing Mike win the singes Priceless................

I too have to say the MTA did a great job of running this shoot. The events started on time every day and the targets were set the best they could be despite the windy conditions. If we needed a trap checked it was done with a smile and no grumbling which i cant say for other shoots ive been to in the past. I will also say that the locals in jackson were very nice to us and went out of their way to make sure we had a great stay. The food at the club was great and fairly priced. It was great to shoot on the squad with one of my best friends Mike Thomas as he broke his 1st 200. He and i have been shooting next each other for 8 years. We shot together when he broke his first 100, my first 100 and 200 and when both made 27 yrds. Seeing him win the singles championship was a great moment and im thankful that i was there to see it. Nice shooting, Mike! I know that you had ice water in your veins when shooting, but also know it wasn't water after you won! Nice going "pony tail".

Nice shooting to the guy with boxers in a bucket also. Won't reveal your real name!

Glad you all had a great time.

Big Don, let us know if you get a contingent of MI shooters for our state shoot. It's only 329 miles from club to club and if you split the gas costs its definably affordable. With the skyrocketing costs of gas and shooting in general, car pooling may just be one of the ways to hold on individual costs. Don't be suprised if we don't show up for a fall shoot.

When is that Wisconsin shoot. I should give Hoppe another shot at that "C" doubles championship.... and maybe this time I'll remember to show up for the "A" singles shootoff.... lol..

MIA, Check with Neil Winston, as he took the ferry boat "Badger" across Lake Michigan on his trip to the Great Lakes Grand. If I'm not mistaken, I believed he felt it was more pleasant and less expensive than driving across the U.P. or around Chicago. Might be worth checking out. Break 'em all! Tom Ruble
