    Trap vs. Sporting Clays?!

The 2011 National Championship broke records, bringing more shooters to the National Shooting Complex to shoot more targets than at any previous National shoot. But just how much ant killer and wasp spray did it take to keep all those shooters free from pests? Here are the Nationals by the numbers:

•1626 shooters, an increase of 10% over 2010
•1437 shooters in the main event, an increase of 9% over last year
•47 states and 6 foreign countries represented
•1.1 million targets shot, 968,150 of which were registered
•52,000 feet (nearly 10 miles) of electrical cord for clay target traps
    •1018 clays cars used
    •175 RV spaces used
    •60 vendors
    •367 clay target machines
    •126 water coolers
    •116 gun racks
    •160 shooting cages
    •118 benches
    •300 trash cans
    •142 referees
    •39 target machine loaders
    •14 course managers
    •11 target machine mechanics
    •15,000 trash bags
    •95,000 disposable cups
    •400 rolls of toilet paper
    •250 pounds of ant killer
    •120 cans of wasp spray
    •60 cans of spray paint

If trash bags are a measure of success, the event appears to have been really successful... how many garbage bags did they use at Sparta?!

    best regards,

    Jay

This would seem to shoot a hole in the theory that trap is declining because of the economy.

If your happy shooting targets set by radar, at constant height, and instant pull, good for you...

Gee Joe, ever wonder about all those rangefinders you see around Sc courses? Trap just tells them up front...

According to winscore, there was 1302 entrants in the National Championship Main Event. Is that incorrect?

    Jay,

I'm missing your point. I shot the Nationals this year, every event except the side by side, because I don't own one. I personally had a great time. I have no reason to compair it to any trap shoot, they are not the same, other than they both support the shooters.
