Just today I learned that the Grand Chicago Handicap will be held next weekend at Downer's Grove. Too bad, as that is the same weekend as the WI state shoot (and I'm presquaded already) During the conversation it turned out that no one else seemed to be aware that this will be the 100th Grand Chicago Handicap, with the first having been held in 1911. I thought that was something that could have been used to promote the event, but I guess I'm a bit late in providing the info. Wish I could be there. Have fun, as it's a great shoot to win.

I also believe it was won only once by a woman, Ruth Winterowd (unsure of the spelling).

There must have been a multiple winner. I've seen several photos of the large trophy for this event. In the 1950's it was valued at over 1000 dollars, and I believe it was made by Tiffanys. To take the trophy home, it had to have been won by the taker three times. I have not been able to find any articals that describe who took it away, but will work on that this week, if time permits. It's a shame these trophies fade away. Steve j
