America seems to be going to Shit from the lack of integrity, the lack of honesty, and the persuit of self gain by our politicians. There is no concern for the American public by our elected officials. Isn't this what the second Amendment was for? Bulge.

Hmmm, The "Democrats, who were then in the minority, already opposed it unanimously", Obviously they didn't have to spend a nickle more (than what they already had) to keep the Democrats in their pocket!

So Freddie spent Millions on an "under-the-radar campaign to sway 17 Republican senators in 13 states" the goal of which was "not to have any Freddie Mac fingerprints on this project".

And this was accomplished by "DCI recruited prominent citizens and contributors to lobby the lawmakers, and also orchestrated newspaper articles and TV appearances by critics arguing the measure would cramp the housing boom."

Sounds like Freddie, through their hired help corrupted the integrity of the SYSTEM far more than that of any individual Republican Senator.

But as for the "Democrats, who...already opposed it unanimously"?

    Well, you decide.

And SwannyinMinn, are you sure you are not one of the "Mainstream Media"?

I mean, your subject line smells a lot like one of the headlines we see daily,

"GOP Paid to stop mortgage legislation!!!"

At least the article in the link was closer to the facts,

"Freddie Mac secretly paid lobbyist to KO Senate bill"

    Hmmmm....

The folks that should be hung out to dry are Barney Frank, Chuck Shumer, Chris Dodd and maybe Chris Cox. The first three have more to do with the WORLD financial crisis than they would ever admit. Barney Frank stopped any regulation of Freddie and Fannie. Chuck Shumer started the bank run by "leaking" a letter that the bank was going to fail. He created the failure. Chris Dodd was the "main man" on the banking comittee that saw this coming, but hadn't finished his sweetheart deal yet. Chris Cox was in a position to see it coming. The first three should definitely be hung out but the "liberal" media won't say anything about the long tenured a--holes.

Why didn't you post all of the facts, swammy, Fannie Mae included???

"Headlines; "Lawmaker Accused of Fannie Mae Conflict of Interest"

"WASHINGTON — Unqualified home buyers were not the only ones who benefitted from Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank’s efforts to deregulate Fannie Mae throughout the 1990s.

So did Frank’s partner, a Fannie Mae executive at the forefront of the agency’s push to relax lending restrictions."

I consider such reports valid only when published by reliable media. NYDaily News and Associated Press don't qualify!

First of all the title of this thread is false and misleading as most postings coming from the left side is. DCI is not the GOP, it is a consulting company.

Although not emphasized, the article also states that the DEMOCRATS already unanimously opposed the bill that was introduced by REPUBLICAN Chuck Hagel of Nebraska.

What exactly did DCI do to convince Republican Senators not to support the bill? Who were the critics that mounted the public campaign against the bill? ACORN? Did ACORN threaten to picket the Senators as they did the banks to convince them to make the loans that caused the problem in the first place?

More is said by what is left out of the article than what is actually in it.
