The price of lead today is 90 cents per pound. A drop of 45 cents since yesterday. $.90 x 25 = $22.50 a bag. HMB

Lets see how long it takes the shot and shell mfg to get those prices to market.

Thanks, HMB, that's great news. I may go out and reload this morning in the hope I can eventually buy shot again.

Where did you get that info? Spot lead, at this moment, is $1.36 lb according to Kitco.

I got the price this morning from the Kitco Web Site. Now the chart does not show that price drop and it is trading at $1.35 a pound. Very strange. HMB

June 2007 looks like the last time it was under a dollar...

Maybe you looked at the wrong chart or they had a problem at there end. Not unheard of that someone at a computer somewhere punched in the wrong numbers.

Some of you are truly optimists.
Do you really believe the price of shot/ammo will ever DROP???!!

Does anyone really think gasoline will someday be 35cents/gallon again?
Or that hamburger will ever be 40cents/pound again?
Or that haircuts will ever be $1 again?

Face it guys, lead could drop to $.75/lb and the prices of our ammo will not go down. The price of everything is tied to the price of energy, and energy (now and for the foreseeable future) is tied to oil. Not lead.

When you quote .90 cents a pound and $22.50 a bag are you shooting raw lead. The cost to convert to shot is probably another 50% at least. Add the profit or mark up and you are still up to $42 a bag. Mike
