Saw this hat yesterday. Its called the HipeKewl hat. Just wet the inside with water and it keeps that bald head cool. Its real light even when wet. Great hat to shoot in. Look it up on the net. I also found the Frog Togg Chilly pad. Wet it and put it around your neck. This thing really works to cool you down.

    motordoctor,

I've got the Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad cooling towel and yes, it works very well. Just wet it with water, even warm water, and it will keep you cool all day. The thing literally stays wet for days. I actually wet mine and keep it in my cooler in the plastic box it came in. When you get off the trap line I wrap it around my neck and it instantly cools you down. Well worth the $12 I paid for mine. If the hats are made of the same stuff, I'm sure they work well.

Something that takes the sun off of your ears and neck would be better than a ball cap no matter what it is made of. Plain old boonie hat will do ya way better, and one a those swell golfer straws is killer.

I have 2 hats one wide brimmed straw hat, and white Genuine Stetson it is 40 years old both keeps the sun off your ears.

Britt Robinson wore a Black Stetson style cowboy hat.

My wife and I have a couple of the "around the neck" things you wet down, and they don't work very well when it's humid outdoors. They work by evaporation and when humidity is down, they are wonderful. When it's high, leave them in the car.....just my .02

I like the Tilley hats, not cheap but they keep the sun off my ears and neck. The Tilley airflow hat is cooler than my usual mesh White Flyer hat as well.

    basic straw hat.

Its light, allows good air flow into and your body heat out.

    12 bucks

Check out Solumbra and Coolibar for hats and clothing for sun protection. Also,Lowes sells neck towels and bandanas similiar to above, just wet and snap, supposedly keeps temp 30 degrees cooler than aie temp.

I find the bonefish type cap to be warm; it cuts off any chance of breeze getting to the back of my head and neck.

After trying about every hat made, I concluded the Golfer straw hat is the best for me.

Your ideas on shooting hats will change when you start getting cancer treatments on your ears and neck. My hats have changed a bunch since my dermatologist started cutting and burning on me. Ball caps are for baseball.

A straw hat works perfectly and provides for great ventilation. Plenty to choose from... pick one that works for you.

Henschel hats. Can even get them in camo and up to 3X. Broad wide brim with mesh in the top for ventilation. Wear a solid color to the range and dove hunt in a camo hat.
