I am going to the graduation ceremony at Annapolis Friday.

My former next door neighbors' Daughter is graduating from the United States Naval Academy. I have known her since she was born. It just doesn't seem possible that the little girl who calls me "Uncle Cliffy" will be an officer in the Navy.

I feel honored to have received the invitation. Suitable for framing, I might add.

Her Father was a Marine and a retired Michigan state trooper. He is the proudest man alive.

Just thought I would share my good fortune with every one.

A friend of ours daughter graduated from the Air Force Academy and is currently an F-16 Pilot. She was offered a chance to tryout/join the Thunderbirds but opted instead to fly security detail for Air Force One.

I wish we had the opportunity to attend her graduation. She is actually thinking of which her mom is hoping for.

That's an accomplishment for which her family and loved ones should certainly be proud.

If you'll afford me a bit of sarcasm, I will also point out that if she happened to graduate in the bottom 1% of her class, she may get nominated for President by the Republican Party. After all, that was the educational legacy of the last person they brilliantly nominated.

Congratulations and thank her and her family for thier service

GW22 is an obvious loser so ignore him- he has no idea of what it takes to get accepted at the Naval Academy, much less graduate

GW22 also has no idea what it took to endure years of captivity in a cesspool and then demand that the other men be evacuated first.

GW is not even fit to lick that young ladies boots and maybe should walk up to her father and make that comment in person and see how it goes for him after that.

They love McCain there at the Naval Academy by the way. He is their favorite guest speaker and they have speakers from all over the world.

    Regards from Iowa

    Gene

PS I hope you made time for the city tour- run out of the tour building in town or will go back to do that sometime.

Just heard that the Blue Angels won't be flying there this year. Always the highlight for me. I LOVE jet noise ! Appears they flew too low at some exibition and got a complaint so they were told to stand down . They aren't suppose to be back 'til 2013.
Ron, see you @ Millington. The weather should be great !!!

If you do the tour it is about 2 hours= and worth a ton of just wandering around- they end at the Naval Academy

Second the crab house= not cheap but great crab and for those of us inland we rarely have that type of great crab meet.

Those places look like lots of fun.

I know I will enjoy the food. I never had real Maryland crab until my first trip to the Maryland state shoot back in 1994. My pals (Jerry Phillips and Ernie Norris) introduced me to some awesome food. I can't wait to get there.

As it so happens, I actually DO know what it took for McCain to get into the Naval Academy and graduate -- a daddy who was an Admiral, and not much brains. That's why he "graduated" in the bottom 1% of his class.

In lawyer-speak, I guess one could call these things "The Irrefutable Facts." LOL.

Gary GW22 you dont have a clue

My guess is you arent even smart enough to qualify for a paid tour of the Academy.

It doesnt matter what or who his father is, and in fact he was probably hazed because of who his father was.

Some day gary- take a look at what the qualifications of the entering class of the Naval Academy looks like- you might learn something

Regardless- congratulations to all the visitors and graduates this year.

Annapolis is a proud American institution but a dim-bulb slacker like McCain had no business on God's green earth being there (other than his legacy daddy). The dumbest 1% is the dumbest 1%, and not even a slippery lawyer can change the facts. Deal with it.

I believe, but am not sure, that several of the six fleet admirals (5 star) were anchor men in their classes from Amapolis. I know a lot of people who graduated high in their class that don't have enough sense to come in out of the rain. Remember, Einstein failed 5th grade math.

Finally Gary, Obama supposedly graduated high in his class at Harvard but I sure as hell don't give him credit for being smart (well educated yes) but smart no.

    Brownk80:

There will always be examples of educated people who are misguided, immoral or lacking in common sense. Obama is a perfect example. Point respectfully taken.

But does that mean we should intentionally choose leaders who aren't smart? If we want a President from Annapolis, which sounds pretty good to me, despite Jimmy Carter, can't we raise the bar a little bit and select one from the top 99% of their graduates? Or maybe even the TOP 25%? Or, let's get really ambitious -- let's say that the challenges this country now faces are so great, and the future of our children and grandchildren is so important, that we should demand a President who graduated in the TOP 25% of his/her college class AND actually held a real private sector job at least once in his life? How about that?

Or, should we stick the the recent brillaint Republican Party philosophy of nominating those from the BOTTOM 1% of their graduating class, and those who have been on the public dole their entire lives? ...someone who, when put on the spot with tough questions like "How many homes do you own?" repeatedly failed to get the answer right (sometimes even within +/- 2). Don't you see that running mental weaklings like McCain and Palin is exactly how we got stuck with a Socialist Community Organizer?

Let's set our own agendas aside and be totally reasonable and honest for a minute: Anyone too dumb to crack the Top 99% of their college graduating class has no business running our country -- even as a Senator. Anyone who can not immediately state how many homes they own is either too dishonest or too stupid to be considered for any important job, much less the Presidency.

McCain was captured and tortured in Viet Nam, and may have passed on the chance to be released sooner and allow himself be FURTHER used as a propaganda tool. That's good. I never said he was a total dirtbag. But the fact remains that he was a slacker party boy, was never very bright, and would never in a million years have been considered for admission to Annapolis had it not been for his daddy's influence. Those are FACTS, not opinions. My OPINION, is that McCain should happily retreat to being a kept man, enjoy spending his wife's Coors family money, and be thankful he never had to apply his pea-brain and hold down a real job like the rest of us. He's half senile and needs to give up his senate seat to someone who can successfully get themselves to the toilet.

I'm sick and tired of dim bulbs like John McCain ruining the name of Conservatism, embarrassing the party of Ronald Reagan, and weakening the tradition of proud American institutions like the Naval Academy. If anyone wants to argue with me, fine. But bring some FACTS. Don't just blindy defend every dimwit RINO out there or try to twist my words/intentions by using slimy lawyer tactics like Gene.

    Gary you have no facts-

GW22 you are just full of hot air- The bottom person at the Naval Academy is the cream of the crop. You do a lot of other things when you attend the Naval Academy. I can assure you that McCain studied more than all but the top grads at Harvard. You dont get credit for labs or military training. You dont get credit for about 40 percent of what you actually do there and even so you end up with 30 percent more credits than a typical college education.

Party boy? Gary you have no concept. This isnt a regular college.

My cousin nearly didnt graduate(it came down to the week before graduation) and he went on to be a Nuclear Engineer, PHD. Test Pilot and Astronaut.

Gary like I said- I dont think you are even smart enough to take a tour of the Academy.

The over 1000 young men and women that just graduated, entered when the nation was at war and knew they would be going to war.

The academics at the Naval Academy are some of the hardest in the world but the demands requirements are so much more than academics.

    The Definition of Stupid

McCain was captured and tortured in Viet Nam, and may have passed on the chance to be released sooner and allow himself be FURTHER used as a propaganda tool. GW22 - Gary

    _____________________________________________________________________________

Gary- I know you are an entitlement baby but on memorial day weekend you are going to say this? Have you ever looked at John McCain- if you have, you realize he is crippled from his service to our nation.

You keep calling McCain stupid. He is loved at the Naval Academy where they turn out real heros every year.

He graduated from one of the most academically demanding institutions in the entire world, made the cutoff for pilot training and has served this nation his entire life. He has accomplished more in the Senate than most can only dream of.

Gary you continue to call this american hero stupid but you owe your way of pampered life to him.

He stayed behind in that sewer and demanded that others leave because he felt that was his duty. His duty, knowing full well that a guard at any moment might change his mind and knock his teeth out or kill him.

Gary people like you really need to go find another country to live in because you are dragging America down with your sense of entitlement.

    Regards from Iowa

    Gary,

I take your points, but my only counter is that I am also tired of electing those that went to Ivy League schools (undergrad, grad or post grad, incl law) who believe that they are smater than everyone else and who have no, zero, nada experience in anything but government ala Clinton, Carter and Obama. These very bright people with absolutely no common sense or experience are the ones that are driving this country into the ground.
