As we all get ready to BBQ, drink beer, shoot trap,go to the beach and watch the races, let's all remember what this weekend is for. These pictures say it all. I encourage all to try to do something for our Veterans especially those who gave so very much. Say thank you and welcome home. Better yet, contribute perhaps what it cost for a round of trap to any one of the numerous organizations that take care of our Veterans. In my prayers I say thank you to the many friends I lost in Viet nam and especially my Uncle who was killed on Laytee Island. God Bless them all!

We were talking about it today. Wouldn't be great if the President would call for a special news conference and say nothing political, but state exactly what you just posted.

We forget what it's all about. It's about honoring heros, not just a holiday.

Personaly I will be doing something. I will join my comrades from the local Legion Post Firing Squad to fire on 16 local rural cemeterys. We fire on the first one at 6AM. At 10AM we form up to lead the local parade.

ctreay: Thank you. Instead of driving to the Mother-in-laws at the beach next year, I made a vow to ride the wall in DC. Wounded Warriors is my primary contribution interest. I also donate goods to the local VFW when we can. Intrepid or DAV always are in need. Everyone, have agreat weekend!

By the number of hits to this thread, I guess my assumption that a lot of people in this great country have forgoten what the purpose of this day and tomorrow is about. Here's a picture that perhaps will tug at the heart strings. Up for those who are giving and have given.

    blade,

I don't think you can make a fair assumption on what people know and believe on how many views or replies your thread has. The forum has been slow lately because the weather is nice and people are out enjoying it. I viewed the thread numerous times and chose to only tell a Vet to have a Happy Memorial Day. That was you. Don't unfairly judge people simply for their lack of posts. Many remember in their own ways.

    Just Say'n.....

The son of a Vietnam Vet and Grandson of two WWII Vets. I'm remembering all who served.

TO THE TOP! I put it back up for all the heroes past and present who served and are serving to allow us to live free in this great country. Go out of your way to thank everyone in uniform for their service. I do. Paul Leeper in GINebraska.
