What a sad day, GM filing for bankruptcy!! And what a horrible blow for freedom is the new GM. GM - Government Motors aka Ghetto Motors. Look at government housing. The new GM will be 60% owned by the US government, 12% by the Canadian government and the rest by the UAW.

Barack Ojackass CEO of everything. Federal government, banks, auto companies, and tomorrow the drug and health industry. Isn’t there anything this community organizer can’t do?

What will happen to Ford? How is Ford going to compete against a government subsidized competitor? What happens if Ford, Toyota, Honda, etc… start taking more of GM’s market share?

Might Sir Obama turn his dogs of the EPA,OSHA,EEOC, DOL, DOT, etc.. loose on his competitors? Will Lord Obama allowed the nationalized banks under his control make a loan to purchase a non GM vehicle?

Ford is still shackled with the UAW, part owner of the new GM. Wonder what the fat cat union leaders have planned for their competitor - Ford?

I believe after Ford is ran out of business by Ojackass then he will go to work on unionizing the - Japanese owned US plants, and put them under his control. Then he will go to work on the imports. To help get reelected he will say we need to restrict free trade that is sucking our jobs from the US, and all the people will stand up and cheer, including most of the people on this site. Do away with free trade!! Yeah! Rah, Rah-Rah!!! After all what right do you have to purchase a car from whoever you want. You shouldn’t be able to make a deal with somebody from China, Japan, or Germany! If you think you have a right to purchase a car you want, then what? You might want to purchase a gun. Can’t have that.

So in a few years with Ford gone, the foreign owned plants under US control and no imported cars allowed because free trade is bad, we will have - ??? A rat hole probably. We will have one car for everyone. A car for the people! One color for all. It won’t be black because the wackos in California say black cars use too much energy. It won’t be white, because we know white is bad. It will be grand, brought to you by the new GM. The old GM made inroads into the market by offering customers different colors, not just the black cars Henry Ford wanted to provide. Now the new GM will be making one crappy pedal car that are all alike for the dumbmasses. A car just like the Soviets made for their prosperous citizens in the old USSR. Welcome to the USSA of Obama!

God, I’m glad I’m old and going to die in a few years.

Sad day for America, but not for GM. We have created the American equivalent of AIRBUS, except making cars instead. GM used to be an 800-pound gorilla in the auto market - now they are a 1,000 pound gorilla.

This company will have unlimited access to capital, backed by the US Government's printing press and ability to collect taxes.

This company will suck up market share, and simply make life harder for the more efficient companies who ran their businesses the right way to begin with.

If there's anybody we should be worried about, it's Ford. Everybody's talking like they came out smelling like a rose, but people...they still aren't making money. Only difference is, they aren't backed up by Uncle Sam's pockets. Ford will be the one that comes out of this in sorry shape, in the end. They didn't take the bailout, and "somebody" will make sure they pay for that.

I disagree it is a sad day for America...it is more like a screw you day for all the creditors. Nothing much will change for GM because it will come back as the same old GM. The same think happened to Kmart. It went bankrupt, robbed all the money from the stock holders and other creditors, then reopened as Kmart!

What should happen is all the money-thieving big dogs of GM should have to repay the millions they scammed the public out of for the last 20 years!

    It's a sad day alright.....

$15 billion of taxpayers dollars to keep GM out of bankruptcy wasted. Might as well wiped your ass with it.

Probably $30 billion more to finance the bankruptcy and let GM 'emerge' as a stronger, leaner company. When was the last time you heard 'leaner' used to describe anything to do with the government or unions.

Government's total disregard for law. Taxpayer finances 17.5% GIFT of GM to the UAW. The people who put up real cash money to invest in GM get completely screwed while having a gun held to their heads to accept pennies on the dollar.

Ford proves without a doubt that the good guys finish last.

    Yes, it's a sad day.
