    In your dreams...

GM earned $1.5 billion from July through September, down from $1.7 billion a year earlier.

The company earned 89 cents per share compared with $1.03 in 2011. Revenue grew 2.5 percent to $37.6 billion.

Excluding one-time items, GM made 93 cents per share, easily beating Wall Street expectations of 60 cents.

I am just surprised anybody is buying cars.

Maybe that was all government fleet sales?

    Did we pay twice?

Great! They can pay back the tax payers then? What about reimbursing the original bond holders?

They would have made more money had it not been for the extra high cost of warranty claims.

"In North America, pretax profit fell 17 percent to $1.8 billion as lower pension income and higher costs for warranty claims offset lower raw material and freight costs."

They continue to produce 5hitty cars and trucks.

GM Government sales are about 5% of the total. That 79% for June has been debunked a thousand times.

Yes, they should pay back the difference between the government loans and the stock with interest.

And, FWIW, I think they would have been better off under Romney. But that's not the same as going bankrupt now.

    Seventy nine percent???

    Never heard that one.

GM does have a new rear wheel drive police interceptor.

They are fighting for the PD market share left vacant by the Ford Crown Vic and reluctance of PD's to by the RWD only Tahoe.

Since the Crown Vic is gone, Chrysler has been selling more Chargers, dressed up like "cruzers."

When I was driving police cars we were told that there was no profit in them. That is why we drove Fords for a while then GM products for a while and then Chrysler products for a while and then the cycle would begin again. They were all taking their turn in the barrel losing money on the units.

Anybody that supports Gub'mint motors should buy some stock. It's $25.17/share as I type. That's up $1.89 (8.12%) from Friday's close.

If every UAW local representing members at Gub'mint Motors plants had bought a million shares before Friday's close and sold it a few minutes ago, they would have grossed $1,890,000 for their members in four days.

    I drive a Hypocrite.

It is a hybrid of course powered by a blown 327. The blower is a solar-powered electric model that sucks cold air and blows hot. Neither manual nor automatic, the transmission changes its mind depending on its environment.

The Hypo (nickname popularized by viral YouTube video) is manufactured in America thank God himself; but, distributed by an offshore shipping consortium managed by disgruntled expatriates.

The radio only plays country music, pentecostal Sunday services and Rush Limbaugh shows. Interestingly one of the Hypo's most sophisticated technological features is the cool LED display frenched into the rear fascia that's programmed with choice, Greenpeace and change messages.

Shifting gears... too bad we can't go back to real cars:

Saw a program where the big threes top prospects for POS were compared ..all were great but the top dog by a more than little bit was the new Ford Taurus AWD EcoBoost...I can only imagine it was the most expensive too..but then again it got the best mileage and handling the AWD kept it in the fight longer during bad weather..especially snow..highest top speed so I'm guessing it would be considered worth the extra bux

Don't know about YC in NYC, they can probably buy all new, but a lot of them buy police cars at auction, one they are retired from PD use.

They dip t hem in yellow paint and slap a meter on them.

Look for plugs in the sheet metal where wiring and lights were. Some departments leave the spotlights, some take them off.
