    Global Warming

Let's assume for the sake of argument that Al Gore is a prophet and Global Warming is true. Thus, we are raising the average temperature of the Earth by a degree or so every century. What a shame. But wait, by the time the planet heats up enough to make a difference there won't be any fossil fuels left anyways.

This is the Achille's Heel of the global warming charade.

So why do we give a rat's rear end about our carbon footprint. Al Gore for one certainly does not care about the carbon footprint of his home!

My advice, go out and buy a Suburban to haul your Bass Boat. Just leave a few of the big ones for me to catch and fry up with my friends from PETA (you know, People for the Eating of Tasty Animals)

You know, if God didn't want us to burn his oil and coal he would have put it where we couldn't find it.

And come to think of it, if God wanted us to be vegetarians he would have made BBQ'd steak taste like Tofu!

What? Al Gore's monthly electric bill is more than most people's mortgage payment?

Is it really possible,,,that Democrats are the Kings of Hypocrisy? Gasp!

PS - If you really want some Democratic hypocrisy...call your Democratic Congressman up & ask if he'll give up his Congressional health care plan, to live under the same public health plan they're going to pass for us to live under. That should be an interesting answer...

Seems like politicians know (I'm kidding) more about the subject than scientists. The scientists are silenced because of the politics; if you have an opposing viewpoint you have to pay the price of ridicule. You have to wonder where are the debates by scientists? When the colleges are so dependent on government, how objective can they be? The Achilles' heel is the truth if we ever will hear it. Today they vote on "Cap & Trade" and seems like we're willing to recklessly risk our future based on the politics versus the science. Anyone ever hear about sunspot activity? It's stupid and ignorant to trust the politicians. BT-100dc

The so-called "consensus" is collapsing. See the WSJ article at the link above.

The Australian Senate has refused to approve their version of cap-and-trade. New Zealand has suspended their cap-and-trade program.

In France, President Sarkozy intends to appoint Claude Allegre to head the ministry of industry and innovation. Monsieur Allegre is not a believer. Respected scientific advisers to governments from Japan to several European countries have recently felt less constrained in expressing their skepticism.

Thirteen times the number of scientists who participated in the 2007 U.N. report, do not ascribe to the theory, by latest count by Rep. Inhofe. 54 noted physicists have signed an open letter denouncing the American Physical Society's position that the question is "settled".

But most convincing of all is the fact that average temperatures have not risen since 2001.

Only zarathrusta has the answer to this one. Maybe we should consult this unbiased source?

Ahab has hit the nail squarely on the head. Cap and Trade is like Speeding Tickets - it doesn't make the world safer, it's just a source of revenue.

A bold new funding source is badly needed. You see, the rest of the "civilized" world implemented huge welfare states in the boom years after WW2, when it all still looked feasible on paper. The economy was growing by leaps and bounds, there was no competition from 2nd and 3rd world countries, and compassionate societies could afford to promise their citizens every form of financial security under the sun, financed by the Treasury. But now, it no longer looks feasible, because their economic growth has peaked out. They've huge burdens and no way to pay for them. In Europe the conversation isn't about how to make the welfare state bigger; it's about how can they afford to keep the one they've got. Well, the environmentalists have given us the answer: tax the substance that human bodies are made out of. Every breath, every bite, every joule, every fart - it's all subject to taxation now. Think of the funding possibilities! Why, the stuff we could pay for with all that MONEY...

Cap'n trade is a socially-acceptable source of funding for the welfare state. It's really as simple as that.

By the way - you're not going to hear anything of real substance from our non-spelling friend on this, because he's not truly an equal-opportunity satirist. He's just a left-winger who allows himself the pleasure of shooting guns. This week we learned the dirty secret behind the president of the campus Nietzsche club: he's a partisan hack like the rest of us. He just thinks he can "act above it" and conceal it under a thick layer of snarkiness.

I am a director of an enery cooperative in Indiana - and have received a substantial amount of information on this issue. California, Oregon, Washington,Maryland and Delaware all will recieve cap and trade credits 3,000 times greater than their current use. Midwest states will receive approximately 40% cap/trade credits needed based on today's usage. Translation - the east and west coast states will be able to "sell" their cap/trade credits to the highest bidder. That's why Nancy Pelosi was pushing so hard for this.

Prepare for a tax that will be "unseen" but more pervasive than any we've all experienced before. Businesses will either pass the cost along to the consumer or move out of the country to continue production.

I recently read: "If it moves tax it, if it still moves regulate it, and if it stands still subsidize it." Ronald Reagan commenting on Congress.

To put it bluntly - we are all screwed !

I would like to hear even one coherent counter argument to this issue from the liberal or democrat side - and argument based in fact and specifics, not feel good rhetoric gleaned from an Al Gore movie or speech.

I'm willing to wager a small but tidy sum it can't and won't be done. This was a 1200 page bill that was introduced at 3 a.m. this morning according to Indiana Congressman Pence ( R ) and then had an additional 300 pages added to it. The number of amendments allowed - ONE !. What happened to the campaign promise for open and fair debate on all issues. Nancy Pelosi ramrodded this through Congress by bullying, cajoling, backstabbing, and any other method available to get it to pass.

We can only hope that enough voters see the folly in this and will effect a change in the congressional elections in 2010. To continue this for four more years is our nation's suicide.

This bill even had an unemployment provision in it for those that they know are going to be laid off because of this bill.

They knowingly are putting people out of work and don't care.

Let's hope there are enough intelligent people in the senate to kill this turkey. If not, at least the Democrats will have sewed the seeds of their own demise. RIP assholes.

    Amboy, thanks.

This bill is a gun pointed at the Midwest, and people need to know it.

This is just another EXCUSE they are trying to sell to the public,,,,after they spent ALL the "trust fund" for SS and extending the budget to put us in debt to China et. al.,,,,they are also trying to do the same with the healthcare bill they are trying to sell us on as well,,,,there is not enough money coming in to the treasury,,,,so they are trying the emotional sell on everything so the get the least amount of flak from their voters,,,,until it is TOO LATE to reverse and we are at their mercy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
