Philipp Wohler came to Nebraska to experience life in America. He's done that. Now near the end of his stay, the German exchange student can add one more experience to his list — the Cornhusker Trapshoot.

Wohler shot Friday afternoon for the 5 Clovers Trap Club of Wilber at the 43rd Cornhusker Trapshoot in Doniphan. The busy senior started his day running the 400-meter dash for Wilber-Clatonia High School at a track meet in Tecumseh.

Trying different things is what it is all about for Wohler. He also played football in the fall and basketball last winter.

"You need to be confident," Wohler said. "You just have to try things. If you never try it, you never know if you're going to be good at it. I don't want to sit at home and do nothing."

Wohler, 17, has had little shooting and hunting experience in Germany, but already has been hunting in Nebraska, shooting his first deer. He completed hunter education in Nebraska, which is required for Cornhusker Trapshoot competitors, as well as in Germany.
