In this mornings Sunday paper an article indicates both sides are considering raising gas taxes ten cents and diesel 24.5 cents per gallon. The culprit... lobbying from the highway construction industry who claims they will lose jobs if nine million more isn't raised for road work. Its a trade off..we've already lost jobs in many industries because of high gas and shipping prices so why sacrifice jobs in many indusries to support the highway construction crews? Ed Nichols
Gov't contracts have for too long been seen as windfalls to companies.
Get a Gov't contract for 6 -10 times what it actually costs to do a job, and it's easy to justify paying a part of that enormous profit to Senator "Good Ol Boy" to push the spending bill through.
And you thought kickbacks only happened in Africa.
Grunt: We elect these sweethearts and they get $175 million in contributions from the likes of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae as was reported in the paper today and who are both in financial trouble.
