For the first time in history, Congress will not allow an increase in
the social security COLA (cost of living adjustment). In fact, the
Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation predicts there may not be any COLA
for the next three years. However, the per person monthly Medicare
Insurance premium will be increased from the 2009 premium of $96.40 to
    $104.20 in 2010 and to $ 120.20 for the year 2011.

Let's send this to all senior that you know remind them not to vote
for the incumbent senators and congressmen in the 2010 and the 2012
    Elections.

And don't forget - CONGRESS GAVE THEMSELVES A PAY RAISE THIS YEAR...

What a crock of crap, I can't believe what this government is upto. Screw the Liberals. Richard

in my opinion, all elected officals should be put on mimmun wage until we have our republic back, and when that happens they leave office with what they are wearing on their back and nothing else! No pension, no retirement , no health insurance!

I am on SSD and got a COLA last year but they stuck me on mediacare and took $100 out of the check netting me a loss not a gain. Like I was looking for one

Wonder what kind of response you will get from people on this site who complain about government entitlements? And no I am not a liberal, just wondering if it is hipocritical to complain about it when it only affects your particular group.

The Medicare increases will only be seen by people who are applying for medicare for the first time in each of the next few years.

The absence of a COLA is due simply to a net reduction in the cost of living from last year, due largely to the extreme drop ($100+ per barrel) in the price of oil at the beginning of this year. The law prohibits reductions in SS payments when the economy suffers deflation.

Politics have nothing to do with it. It is written into the law.

The raise in the cost of Medicare is the "change" Obama promised you. Just wait until he fixes medical coverage for everyone!
