1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For more detailed information please see this post: Thread Bump Functionality.

That "eye" on this stock looks spooky.

Did Rem. make a lot of the alloy receivers? I've never seen one but I'm from Model 12 country. Not many Model 31's in my old neck of the woods.

Can you tell me what series this gun is? Mod. 31 folks help me here. Wasn't there a series 1931 then 1934, then 1941?

I looked up the history of the Model 31 and found out that those that were marked "Model 31L" had alloy receivers. I confirmed this with a friend of mine who has a 31L and a regular 31, and the 31L is much lighter.I believe the 31Ls were designed for hunting. FWIW. jm

One of my books agrees with jm1079, most were field grade, I have seen a couple in field gr. and one in skeet but none in trap gr. book says they were late production and not too many made, ie circa 1948, evidently they weren't too popular or perhaps the fact that the 870 came out in 1950 so you may have something a bit unusual. Some collector may want it to fill out his collection. Good Luck --Ross

Up until recently I had 3 Model 31L aluminum alloy receiver shotguns...12, 16, and 20. The 12 & 16 had Briley chokes in 28" barrels; the 20 had a 26" ImpCyl original factory barrel. All were plain barrels in great shape. I need to talk to my therapist to figure out what state of mind I must have been in when I sold them (. Best upland hunting guns you will ever hope to own...now gone. Regards, Ed

The L's had the lift trigger in them. The small triggers are the most desirable by the "31 Purists"
