1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For sale a Remington 870 Competition Trap. This is a gas recoil assist pump. It is well used but is all there and is a good shooter. It has a pretty stock, 30" barrel, full choke.
I measured the barrel bore at .742" and the choke at .706" (.036 choke)
The stock has a 14 1/2" LOP, 1 1/8" drop at the front of the comb, 1" at the Kick-EEZ recoil pad. The barrel has been ported. No box.
Priced to sell at $650 plus shipping to your FFL.

Nice looking gun, however, a very "strange" and unfamiliar, porting pattern..... Who did the porting, do you know?..... Thanks.... Dan Thome (Trap2)

I have no idea who did the porting. I traded into it and have my eye on another shotgun, so I am selling this one. Bob

I believe that is what is referred to a "Seitz" porting. I know Allem's and some other gunsmiths performed that style of porting at one time.

Must correct you. That is NOT "Seitz style porting". Not even close.

That is not Seitz style porting. I have never seen that style either.

I think that might be an ACE HARDWARE porting...there was a coupon in
the flyer a couple weeks ago. Home Depot does a nice job on the key cutting
machine...$29.95 while you wait. Too bad...nice gun!

Sorry about the error. Back in 1990, I bought a used KS-5 Scroll Arabesque that had been ported like that and was told that Allem's did it. I've seen photos of guns with that style of porting since then and it was referred to as Seitz porting.

Since that was the only ported gun I ever owned and I don't plan to own another, I'm surely no expert on the subject!

Does the mechanism make it a single shot? Not familiar with it, is it supposed to reduce recoil?

all 870 COMPS are dedicated single shot guns.

Like Rick979 said, it is a single shot. It uses the mag tube as the gas chamber. It has a gas port in the bottom of the barrel and when fired the piston counteracts the recoil. It works pretty good. It is good for 16 and handicap trap, will not work for doubles.

The porting almost looks like PRO-PORT, by Magnaport..They have two designs, pigeon port and standard port, they run an ad in Shotgun Sports Magazine..LarryB

The style of porting on this Comp isn't of the Ace Hardware design, it's a patened process by Black and Decker. Lol.

This is what happens to good guns when shooters get bored and have a sixpack and a heated garage. Those holes were obviously created by a drill bit and not a EDM. I'd like to see the inside of the barrel so I could see how good the bore was honed.
