Lead Miner, if a person rents to an illegal alien then would that be considered harboring a fugitive? Bulge.

The Omaha World Herald is reporting that the law passed with a 57% approval rating. (3900 for 2900 against (approximate))

The law would require that every renter acquire a permit to rent from the police department. The department will determine if they are in the country legally. If a landlord rents to someone who does not have legal status they can be arrested and fined. It also requires that all employers in Fremont do a required background check to determine if a prospective employee is legal before hiring.

Laurel Marsh of the Nebraska ACLU has promised to file a lawsuit against the people of Fremont and has promised to "bankrupt the town with legal fees" She can be reached at: (402) 476-8091. There were a lot of threats against the citizens of Fremont. People were called Nazi's and large groups of individuals against the law tried to strong arm businesses and individuals to vote against the proposal. It has been ugly. The state representative from Fremont (we are a unicameral) plans on introducing a law similar to the Arizona law during the next legislative session. Things will get interesting.

Hope it all goes well for the (legal) citizens of Fremont. They are taking on a big fight with a lot of risk and will need everyone's support to fight a very well-funded left.

It's only the beginning here in the states if they don't get a handle on illegal immigration.

You are doing the right thing for this country . More states and cities should be upholding our laws . I also believe in profiling . How many of these illegals don`t have drivers licenses or insurance too . If it`s required then uphold the laws .

Threats from the ACLU to swamp the city with legal fees come straight out of the Obama playbook of Strongarm Politics.

I would love to see something done about this. Like make the ACLU pay the legal fees of the winner (without entering another legal action) every time they are ruled against.

Here and there, the ACLU has done some good things, but it seems like there has been an infestation of pukes and puke mindset in the last decade.

They need to be slapped down.

Just a dream, but if all the towns in US were to do this it could possible bankrupt the ACLU

One problem regarding the ACLU is that WE pay for their courtroom antics. They are publically funded when they challenge the gov't. That's where the term "de-fund the left" comes from. Kind'a sucks, I know.

...as we evolve as a Nation, so goes our evolvement as humans: obviously the 'spine' is no longer necessary and is increasingly missing or underdeveloped from those in priviledged positions:^)

Or it could be that Atrazine poisoning is starting to really take hold...
