I recall freezing grind-to-fit recoil pads made of rubber and it made them easier to sand smooth to a nice finish. Does this work with Kick-Eez pads (sorbothane)? Is it necessary to get the sides really nice?

I didn't freeze mine and they sanded just fine on my belt sander. I used 1000 grit and WD-40 to put a nice shine on the sanded edges when I got it ground down to fit. Put a nice factory sheen on the sides.

P.S. Have some balls and grind the pad while its on your stock. The guy in the video did. LOL
