sorry about that. Some guy bought a house and was digging in the back yard. I believe a pool. They hit a tank. It was about 80% dug up. It was very large. It was free to anyone to haul it away. Maybe the authoritys stepped in. I don't know. Birdtracker

The tank in the photos appears to be a WWII German Panzer IV G. The KwK L/48 (as identified by the muzzle brake) started with the G series. The H and J series had spaced armor around the turret and hull, which could have been torched off on this tank. Or it could be an upgunned earlier series. The hull is mostly buried, and the gun has been swing to the left. Wikipedia has an article on the Panzer IV (see link) and coincidentally has a photo of a museum Panzer IV G.

Brian's probably right, the barrel and brake just look a little large for a tank of that era.

AND that Panzer has only 1 hatch

At over $200/ton for scrap steel, I can't believe it didn't get hauled away fast. A scrap yard up here is paying $10 ea for car batteries. Kind of makes you wonder where the price of lead shot will stop. Larry Evans

I doubt they will pay 200.00 a ton for an assembly, If it were cut up maybe.

If it's a mostly intact Panzer IV, and restorable, it could fetch $20 large. If it is mostly intact and a good source of parts, it could still go $10K. The issue is expediency. If he wants it gone absolutely pronto then yeah, give it away. If he wants to make some money, an ad in a military vehicle collector magazine or on the MVPA website could net him some hard cash. If that was near me I'd be calling in favors with my pals with heavy equipment and get it moved to the ranch, and turn a buck.
