. . .but if I send the link to the URL of the thread sometimes the recipient is asked for a password to read it. How come?

    Don,

On my computer, I can -right click-on the thread...then I get a pop-up. Click on -Send Link- and you'll get what you need to forward the entire thread.

    Good luck,

    milt

Or, right click on the poster's name, then click on Send Link, and you'll send that individual post only.

    Hope it works for you.

Neil, if you are not "signed in", and you copy the link, anyone can read it if you forward it.

Thanks, Rick. How could I have figured that out without help?

If you don't sign in to trapshooters.com the link you send from the thread you are viewing will only take to to the home page.

Opening a link to a thread here will not ask you to log in, that only happens when the link is from a website that requires login to view. Trapshooters only requires login to post.

All I know is when I go to TS.com, it says "Frames Version" in the top left corner. If it says that, you should be able to click on "page" at the top of your browser, and then click on "send link by e-mail" to whomever you would like to.

Maybe David can come along and explain it the way it should be explained.

    Hope it works for you.

I just added a new link called 'Email a friend a link to this thread' its at the end of each post. Click the link and it will start an email in your default email client with a link to the thread that anyone can open.

Another hint. If you copy/paste the thread link, remove the "s" in "sthread.cfm" part of the URL, then you won't have to sign in to see it.

EX this page is http://www.trapshooters.com/noframes/cfpages/[remove the "s" from right here]thread.cfm?threadid=169402&Messages=14

What if you want to email an individual post to the thread but not the whole thread?

Probably easiest then to just copy/paste the txt you want to forward.

I updated the page and created a link to email the specific post or the entire thread to make it easier for all.
