1998 F-150, 160,00 miles. Driving home tonight, the CHECK ENGINE light came on and began to blink. Any ideas???

Blinking light means engine misfire. Bad if it does not stop flashing after a few seconds

Usually a blinking light means something that needs immediate attention. It could be a serious misfire or possibly an overheating problem, or both if the processor strategies are of that type.

Any roughness or marked loss of power?

Get the codes and the Freeze Frame data with a scan tool, but do NOT clear the codes or freeze frames.

Misfire. You won't know which cylinder until you get the DTC. Severe catylist damage will result and you don't want that! Possibly cylinder #4. Check to see if any coolant has dripped from the heater hose connection above it. If so replace the coil and the plug. Repair the leak.

At this mileage you need to replace all the plugs anyway if you didn't do it 60,000 miles ago when you were supposed to.
