For those interested in all things military, here is a site with some WWII pictures of Iwo Jima at that time.

    Quite an interesting site.

Glad you liked that site, guys. I thought it was a really great.

We owe those veterans a lot.

The one picture that really got to me was the cemetery of all with all those Marines in it.

What a waste of young lives..........

US Marine, you are right. It does take lives to defend our freedom.

Just wish there were another way, but know that there is not.

Thanks for serving those 21 years. There are a lot of us who do appreciate the scarifices you've made.

    Thanks again!

I did 3 years is all, but my son has about 24 in the National Guard and is getting ready to retire when he gets his 25 years in.

I think he'd stay for 30, but his twins are only 4 years old and with another one coming in about a week, he figures it would be to hard on them (And Momma) and it's time for him to be home and be a full time Dad.

I can't fault him for that.

I did get to Okinawa for one day when our ship docked on the way back to the States from Korea. I remember the blue water coming into Okinawa.

I remember........well, let's just say I had a great night on Okinawa........and got back to the ship about 3 hours later than I was supposed to get back. lol

    Have a good one Sarge!

    Oops! My bad Barry.....

I'll give myself 20 lashes with a wet noodle.

I'll also go back and edit my original post to make it correct.

    Thanks!

Fred, I put the website URL where it calls for it in this post. Hopefully, you'll be able to open this one.

If not, maybe it's the way you have your computer configured.

    Good luck!

Glad you got to see them.

I guess I'm old enough to be impressed by them.

There were a whole bunch of "Hero's" fighting back then.

I have awe and respect for the lot of them or for anyone who served our country.
