For those of you that fly to matches, is it worth the extra bother to bring the small amount of ammo that the airlines allow. I just checked the United site and they only will allow a maximum of 11 lbs. of small arms ammunition in the proper container. I plan on buying ammo when I get to my destination but I wanted to check with others who travel alot. Thanks.

Will; its not worth the hassel you get from the agents most of them do not know the rules. So we buy at the shoots or any sporting goods store.
Empty hulls is no problem. But do be aware of the 50# bagagge weight.

No...buy ammo at the shoot. Less aggrevation from Point A to Point B.

When you add the fact that several airlines are now charging to check even the first bag and ammo cannot be in carried on luggage, buy shells at your destination would have to be simpler and probably cheaper.

Unless your a .410 or 28 gauge skeet shooter who reloads, purchase at your destination.
