I have A flinching problem. Other than going to A release trigger, what are some of the other remedies? I've been told to go to A heavier trigger pull and put more weight on my forward foot. Anything else?

I recommend a Terry Jordon Wall Chart. I work with my young people and it really helps.

There are about as many types of flinchs as there are shooters and the remedies are very different. You may want to work with a coach to find out what type of problem you have and what works best for you.

If you learn how to Slap the trigger instead of pulling or squeezing it, you might get by. 'Slap' means don't touch the trigger with your finger, keep it in the trigger guard a distance away and then Pull it fast and aggressive at the moment of truth when you are on the target.

Oh for god's sake don't go to the dreaded release trigger. Do anything, buy anything and listen to anybody to save yourself from such a horrible fate. I made the mistake of getting a release trigger 18 months ago and all it got me was from the 21 to the 27 in 10 months, low B to high A, a 100 and a 200, AA League Champion, High Gun in one club for the year, High Gun over 180 regional shooters for the year, and an office full of buckles, plaques and trophies.

Don't end up like me. Get a 10 pound pull trigger and learn to slap it while aiming at a wall so you will be able to shoot 7/8 ounce weenie loads while dropping targets to your flinch or your fear of flinching, standing on one foot. Sheesh

First, do not have any fear about going to a release. They work well. You can try slapping the trigger and making the trigger a pound or so heaver. This may help. Also, not seeing the target well can cause a flinch. Concentrate on seeing the target, and only the target. If this does not help with the flinch it will help in other ways. But, a release trigger is probably in your future and you should welcome a trigger that has helped so many shooters.

You shouldn't buy your way around a flinch other than find a coach or a live somebody who knows what they are doing and have them work with you instead of getting 53 different suggestions of this or that and then you end up buying a release and then the chance of still having the problem but now with a release and overall, well you cant buy your way out of a problem.

Find a good coach or somebody someplace that can help you in person and work threw the problem.

I hope you recognize Mr. Kiner's offer as the approximate equivalent of Albert Einstein asking for your phone number so he can answer your questions about the theory of relativity.
