Back home in El Monte after her record-breaking performance at the London Games, Kim Rhode is reeling in the glory of being the first U.S. athlete to win five Olympic medals in an individual event in as many as Games.

"There's nothing quite like it, to have that crowd, cheering behind you. It's almost like they're helping you pull the trigger each and every time. It's amazing," Rhode said.

In London, Rhode pulled the trigger and hit her target 99 out of 100 times, breaking the skeet-shooting record. Then in the final round she shot 25 out of 25.

Sunday I was at the Canadian Olympic Skeet Championships and one of the shooters who lives in England was in the stands at the Olympics for all the Trap and Skeet events.

She told me that it was raining when Rhode missed the one target. It looked to her that Rhode's stock had caught on her vest pad when she was bringing the gun up.

The modest way she handles herself makes you proud of her and our Country.
