I found this data on the Alliant website. All you promo/red dot shooters might find this useful.

how is it possible that the pressures can be the same on those 2 loads?

I'm assuming this is the Winchester AA?

    Thats a GREAT question blizzard!!

    1 1/8 oz - 1,200 fps - Fiocchi 616 Primer - Red Dot - WAA12 - 18gr - 10,500psi

    1 1/8 oz - 1,250 fps - Fiocchi 616 Primer - Red Dot - WAA12 - 22gr - 10,500psi

Obviously this can't be wrong because its clearly in print post on the Alliant site. Thats a 4 GRAIN difference and the pressure is the same!! Impossible!!!

Where is the PSI police on this one???

I was told by Alliant to load the AA and STS with promo and Fio primer as the same load. I do this and have a great load. I load 1 oz 18-18.5 grains with downrange wad, great load!

I can tell you that 19 grs of pormo and 11/8 shot will rattle your teeth. Shoot 100 of those and your toast. Jake

    I agree!

But according to some posters here on TS.com published data is the law.

Ironic that shortly there after, there is low and behold, an error in published data.

My old boss told me, "you cannot teach common sense".

22 grains of Red Dot should raise a red flag. Even if it is "published"!

Quackshot, Where are you?? The sky is falling!!!! Data publications can be WRONG!!!!!! Stuff that Heavy Load in your K gun repeatedly and it might(said might not would) break down in the future! Not from the primer, though!!

Yep, Paul from Alliant informed me on SGW that they would be addressing it right away.

Top notch people over at Alliant IMHO.

Like Mike, I am shooting Promo and have been the gamut trying to find a good load with it. After much experimenting, I found these two loads to really work well.

Remington hull, Fiocchi primer, 16.5gr. Promo, original Windjammer wad and 11/8oz. 8's. Chrono's at 1145fps +/- out of my Perazzi DB-81 34" barrel. Great singles load and first shot on doubles.

Remington hull, Fiocchi primer, 18.7gr. Promo, original Windjammer wad and 11/8oz. 71/2's. Chrono's 1230fps +/- out of the same barrel. Great 27 yard handicap load. Not too stout, but a firm, solid handicap load.

Promo reloading data can be found on Alliants website on page 30 of their loading data manual. This page is devoted exclusively to Promo....Dan Thome (Trap2)

My everyday load with Promo is 18 grains and I do load 19 now again. I have not noticed any huge difference and definetly no jaw buster. I use Blue Duster wads and Rem cases with Fiochhi primers. I think Promo is maxed out at 20 grains. I'm with PBB 22 grains is out of the question.
