What is the difference between a field gun and a skeet gun?

    Thanks,

Field gun with skeet choke and center bead on ventilated rib = skeet gun. HMB

Target shotguns usually have a center bead. It helps some people mount the gun correctly and too decide if it is pointed in the right direction. HMB

I would think a skeet gun would typically be heavier than a field gun.

Some skeet guns have a slightly higher comb than a field gun. Wood usually is nicer. A shotgun has a higher retail price than most field guns.

several skeet shooters have changed from the traditional field gun style, to longer barrel lengths and Monte Carlo stocks.

Andy, The Skeet gun is about 2 pounds heavier, Has longer barrels, Also has ventilated barrels, Nicer wood, Gun is designed to shoot many more shells, Has shorter chambers, Has mid bead and maybe a hi-viz sight system, Better trigger, Safty does not come on after opening the breach, Typ. costs 2x to 20x more than field gun, Alot of skeet guns have a full set of tube inserts (20-28-410). Other than that I can't think of a thing. Break-em all. Jeff
