I've got a bunch of once fired papers and need some loads to use in them. What is your favorite load?
Let me know your primer, powder and wad. I LOVE THE SMELL.

For those of you who reload Federal Papers on a PW do you use the roll crimp starter? I have a bunch of paper hulls, but I only have the crimp starter for plastic hulls. Do you have to use the roll crimp starter or is there another way?

    Thanks,

    Brian

I shoot what Poacherjoe shoots . except I have enough of the old style federal 209's That I can still use them. I load 22 grains instaed of 21.5. if I am feeling really wild I load 22.5. Jeff

    in a federal paper hull

for a call shell I use:
    19.6 grains of solo 1000 1 1/16 of #7.5
Fiocchi primer Down range DRXL-1 Jammer
    in a federal paper hull

Brian I also have a P.W. it has been years since I loaded any but the plastic crimp will work fine I have the paper roll crimp also at the time I couldn't tell much difference in other words im sure the paper roll crimp might look nicer but I bet you won't have no problem loading the shells in the gun with the plastic crimp.

I always thought the paper crimp put more pressure on the end and just figured it would weaken the end quicker but then again you are not suppose to load them as many times as the plastic hulls.

Mec has a smooth concave precrimp for papers that puts the shell back in its original fold very nicely.

Hi Brian, PW makes a cone shaped crimp starter, which is what I use. I've bought them from Whiz White. Bill Malcolm

    Hooked,

I'm like Beretta687EELL. I have the cone-shaped "smooth" pre-crimp and it makes reloaded papers look as nice as brand new. I even reload a few Rio papers, but I only shoot the paper reloads a couple of times before throwing them away.

I dont think you should load these paper shells. Just box them up and send them to me and I will take care of them for you.
