Have acquired a bag of Fed. 12C1 wads. Are these a direct replacement for the current 12S3? I plan to use them in a Fed. paper hull but shot cup area seems larger on 12C1. Thanks for your input.

Thanks; I had that backward about the 12C1 being a replacement for the 12S3. Should not get on computer before first coffee.

They are the original wad for the Federal Paper hull. That is if it's the 2 piece wad with the red powder cup base. I have used them in my Fed papers when I can find them. They don't make them anymore so I end up finding them from older shooters who are cleaning out there attics. Great wad won many a handicap shoot with them.

    Dawg,

I'm going to have to try that 12S4... I'm down to maybe 3k of the 12C1's .. and was thinking I'd just have to quit shooting caps when I run out.. . .

PS. Anyone who has any Fed 12C1 wads for sale please contact me

the 12s4 works great for 1 1/8 loads. I have always found the 12s3 amd the 12so to be pretty poor in papers. The red 8 as we call it from Claybuster is a great replacement for a 12c1 but do not expect it to look like a 12c1! Jeff

Jerry, never tried Solo 1000 but to each his own. The 12 S-4 wad oughta work just fine-especially with bulkier powders!!
