A Famous Dave's opened here yesterday. I am thinking of trying it. Has anyone been to one that can comment.

They didn't last long in Southwest Michigan / Northern Indiana. Less than a year.

    Still going strong in Iowa!

A lot of people must like them.

I don't go because they are in a different town, but I hear nothing but good things about them.

    Hauxfan!

I've had their food at some catered events and it has been very good.

We had two in the Peoria, Il. area. Both closed and I really don't know why. I thought they had pretty good food and I liked to go once in a while. I really hated to see them leave..............Roger

There's quite a few in Tennessee. Their brisket is good.

I never ate at Dave's, but I like to use their sauce on my own ribs.

They are currently building their first restaurant in Texas, with many more planned. It should be interesting.

Great BBQ here in Naperville IL! Great outdoor ambiance as well! Like your in a North woods lodge with decorated with old fishing reels, shotgun shells, Shotguns, taxidermy, lures, outboard motors etc....Really neat place with great food!

I've been to a few. They run from terrible to pretty good. Service at the last one was horrible and inexperienced since it was opened recently. Same thing with the Red Hot and Blue restaurants.

Little Dog, There is one in El Paso because I eat there everytime I visit my son. It has been there for several years. I ate at the Boise one today. Ribs were outstanding, sauces all good, I especially like the devils pit hot sauce and the Georgia mustard sauce. Devils on the ribs and Georgia on the pork barbeque. The chicken sucked. I would go back. Is it the best I ever had - no. I like Rudys in El Paso better but it is the best here in Idaho. It is even better than the Rib Shack in Meridian and Eagle.

Handlepull, was it the "meal you cannot make at home?"

Greasy-deep fried stuff....I could make that at home!

I eat at the one in Naperville IL also, but I did give them a piece of my mind when they refused to accept and put up a piece of Club memorabilia - heck the whole place is a sportsmens antique warehouse!

Anyway... I like the rib tips platter. Lots of meat, but a little fattier, but that seems to make them moister. I also like their BBQ Chicken Wings. Posted as an appetizer, they come 12, 24 or 36 and you can make a nice meal out them. I prefer the St. Louis Ribs (bigger pork ribs) to the back ribs and I recommend the "Rich and Sassy" sweeter sauce to the "Devil's Spit" hotter sauce... (man, I must be there too much to know all this!)

When the guys get together for a day off lunch, that's our preference and they've had the brisket, pulled pork and its all been good.

    Good porking out,

    Jay

    You got it Hairy.

I don't think I ever even ate there, but that jingle stuck for some reason.

Mr. Miller's version was not quite as catchy.

The one in Fresno is pretty good, and it seems to be busy all of the time. I like the brisket. My wife says the beer is good and cold.

Ditto on the Fresno Famous Dave's! Very good food right from the start. They trained their employees well there. AndyH
