1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For more detailed information please see this post: Thread Bump Functionality.

Model 12 Full Choke 30" Barrel. Gun is in excellent original condition and functions perfectly. Pull trigger. Early model serial#. Literature claims gun was Mfg in 1969 but others on this site told me they purchased guns close in serial# as early as 1964. There are two minor flaws; a small spot in the finish left rear of stock (looks like it could be buffed out) and a tiny scratch at the top of the receiver. Some mild bluing wear at bottom right of receiver. Asking $850 firm plus shipping to your FFL holder.

The gun was manufactured pre 64 then assembled maybe later. All pre 2,000,000 serial numbers were, no exceptions. Jeff

I have also been puzzled by the date of production of guns in this serial number range. My George Madis "The Winchester Model Twelve" book shows this gun made in 1969.

I have one with a bit later serial number, but still under 2mil, and this same book shows it as a 1971 model.

A friend said mine was made in 1964 from spare parts, but is the Madis book accurate? I would like a more accurate source.

As I stated in the description, I inquired about the MFG. date before on trapshooters.com and a fellow responded that he had purchased a gun in 1965 that was within 25 of my serial #. Another fellow did some research found that these later number guns were assembled in the Winchester custom shop from excess parts. Certainly not a custom shop gun per say but a great bithplace if true!

If it was 1969 wouldn't it have a "Y" in the serial #?

It my understanding that model 12s produced fom 1964 to 1973 were produced from the Win. "custom shop". Only those that were in "factory" production from 1974 until production stopped around 1980 had the "Y"serial numbers. At least thattheway it was explanined to me.
