I'm looking for the name of a good eye Dr in the western burbs of Chicago. I've had floaters for some time, and I now find myself with cataracs in both eyes. The problem is that I'm RH shooter right eye dominant and that eye is bad. Like looking through scotch tape. My eye Dr is very good but she is saying I need to wait, well shooting is not an option with this sight issue. The Dr says it's not ready to be removed yet. Looking for second opinion !

If you're willing to drive to the southwest suburbs there's E.P.A. Optical in Palos Heights. One of the doctor there shoots so maybe they can help you out.

Give a call to Dr. John Bartlett, Glen Ellyn Family Eye Car, 510 North Main St., Glen Ellyn. http://glenellynfamilyeyecare.com

He's been keeping me on the targets for more years than I'll admit. He's more of a rifle shooter and upland bird guy but he well understands what we need to get on and stay on the target. He writes the scripts and Decot does the rest for me.

On my last visit he was kind enough to inform me that like you, I'm developing cataracts...... crap !!

Wheaton Eye Clinic is nationally and internationally known. The retina specialist saved my eyesight almost 10 years ago. Click the URL above.

My Dr. is Jon Gieser. He specializes in the Retina and Vitreous. "Floaters" are a breakdown of the vitreous. I highly recommend him.

I can't recommend any Dr. cause I'm not from Chicago. However I have had floaters for years and lived with them. The floaters did not really bother me. 2 yrs ago my eye Dr. told me I was getting cataracs. At the time he said I would probably go a year. I managed to go 2 yrs. When things started getting to look smokey or hazy I said this is enough. I figured it is affecting my shooting. After reading on trapshootes about other people having the same problem and also having implants put in to correct their vision and not need to wear glasses I asked my Dr. about them. He said if you get inplants I will loose your business. He then went on to explain the implants and showed me one. The implants can be put in at the same time the cataracs removed and you won't develope cataracs no more. If your insurance pays for the cataracs removal the implants you will need to probably pay for. But I can't believe the difference. No more glasses except for reading. Thats ok with me I wore glasses since the 8th grade. My shooting is getting back to almost normal like I was about 4 yrs ago. ( Taking home the money ) Their is no breakin period. I went right to shooting the 3rd day with only 1 eye done. I had to wait 2wks to get the second I done but with only the one eye done first I started improving. The eye done first was not my dominant eye. The operation only took about 20 minutes and boom I was on my way home. I strongly urge to check into the implants. Wild Bill
