In his NYT op-ed today, "Come See Detroit, America’s Future", Charlie LeDuff mentions in passing that in Detroit "people routinely disinter their deceased and relocate them to the suburbs."

His book, "Detroit: An American Autopsy" is the scariest, most depressing book I've read in a long, long time.

If being alive isn't a requirement ,..then I doubt being a resident is either

In Detroit, you don't need an ID to vote. It disenfranchises the poor. So they say.

Tell North Carolina that. Official ID needed now to vote.

Of course the media marched some college kids and illiterate minorities up to the interview and complained.

Get real. If you don't have a state validated ID (Credit card, driver's license, State benefits ID, or a passport) your are either socially disfunctional, too illiterate to vote (don't know the facts well enough to cast a vote), a public leech, or a just plain stupid.

Our great education system was suppose to take care of that....right?

    Setterman...you summed it up PERFECTLY.

If the requirement to be able to show a poll worker WHO YOU ARE by ID is too difficult, too onerous of a requirement...you don't need to be voting.

Universal suffrage has not been our friend. Neither is anonymous voting.
