There is a by-product of corn based ethanol,Corn gluten or distillers grain this product is feed to cattle in place of the shell corn they would have been feed other wise. Therefore the corn is is getting double useage. I don't buy the BS that corn based ethanol effects consumer grocier prices.

I'm glad the article explains about the 2nd generation of ethanol. As a country we need to use our natural resources to the betterment of our nation. Increasing the price of corn to make ethanol for the enrichment of a few people is lame at best. I'm sure the kool-aid drinkers who hate any democrat or what one says will agree we need to change our policy. JMHO. Dan

Here is a thought! Just how many tons of CO2 are pumped into the air from all of those vats of corn being fermented??? I had the idea that this 'Global Warming' was partly caused by too much CO2? By product of fermentation is CO2 those little yeast pants do their job and die making CO2. Hmmmm.

Most of the problem with ethanol is big oil. The oil companies own most of the refineries that produce ethanol. They did this so they could control the technology.

The whole government subsidized ethenol production thing was to encourage new business and technologies. So that ane day the energy output would be greater than what it takes to produce. Thus starting to wean the US off of foreign oil and becoming self sufficient.

Big oil has no interest in this happening so they keep ethanol production in the dark ages. Limit big oil's involvement in ethanol production technology and the rest will take care of itself.

"U.S. ethanol is made by extracting sugar from corn, an energy-intensive process"
That uses more energy than you will get out of the end product.

South American country's that use sugar cane to make ethanol actually are able to get more energy out of the ethanol than it takes to produce it.

Gore has shifted his financial position toward the carbon credit (hoax) market where he can make more money by buying and selling massive amounts of something that does not exist that causes the end user "you and me" to have to pay more for everything we buy in the future.
