Is it just me, or do Estate shells have the best smell after firing?

I wonder what powder they use.

WSK.....It's not the powder, it's the plastic hull. Even the second reload with Clay Dot or International smells the same.

Personally I think they stink, probably from the basewad burning out. They probably use many different powders as supply and price dictate.

Estates are made by Federal, probably the same powder as the Federal Papers but cheaper because of the plastic hulls ... I shoot them all the time and tye smell like Federal Papers ... WPT ... (YAC) ...

The ones that I'm shooting now smell awful....kinda like someone pee'n on a fire....Yuck!!

But they smoke a target and are light in the recoil department.

My limited experience with these is that they kick like a mule. I was too busy trying to massage my shoulder to notice the smell.

Ive said it once and I'll say it again. You either love'm or hate'm. LOL. I too think they smell good and abit like the papers. A very simular powder mixed with the same type of paper base wad in the hulls I suppose. Bottom Line is I still think they are the best economy load on the market. Break-em all. JEff

I'm with The Unloader on this one---Federal Papers & Red Dot powder (Promo smells about the same too). Reminds me of when I was a kid & hunted with paper hulls. Colonel

I just started shooting Estates cause I won 7 cases at a gun club banquet. Didnt notice any smell after 100 rounds but did notice a super clean barrell when I finished. Anyone know what wad is in them? Dont want to waste a good shell to find out. Bob

Its been years since I shot any Estates (before Federal), back then they smelled like battery acid and on top of that they were darn nasty. Must have changed since then....hope so.

    Bob, it's a two-piece wad.
