    Howard Morris, aka Ernest T. Bass, who died Saturday, May 21 2005...

    He appeared in only five episodes during the show's entire run, he also the director for a lot of shows… Grubby

    Ernest T. Bass a DA punk? C'mon he was a classic. Remember Barney Fife said it best "he's a nut!" He wasn't a punk. Very talented actor too. From what I have read and studied, he cleaned up quite nice. He was a big ladies man out in the city. So was Don Knotts also, but he was a ladies man as Barney Fife. He had Quanita down at the diner and Thelma Lou all to himself from 1960 to 1965. Matt

    Morris also appeared in one episode(Andy and Helen have their day) as George the TV repairman.

    He was also a writer for Steve Allen and he appeared in Mel Brooks HI_???ity
    (could not look it up in the dictionary if you cant spell it)He played a shrink.
